"Watch your thoughts, they become words; watch your words, they become actions; watch your actions, they become habits; watch your habits, they become character; watch your character, for it becomes your destiny." -Frank Outlaw
For you lovely people who read this blog but never comment, please know that your comments are welcome. Not required, so please don't get all weird and feel pressured, but know that I'm interested in your opinion. Even if you're wrong. Heh heh.
I am experimenting with ads on my blog. I have added a little badge top left, though as I write this there's no content. It might take a couple of days for something to appear. It took me several weeks to figure out how to place the badge on the blog, which is just dumb because there was a help thingy about it and if I'd just looked for that in the first place instead of trying to figure it out ... Well, you know the rest.
Theoretically, every time someone clicks on the ads from my site, I get a couple of cents. No, don't go clicking on it just because, only click on it if it's advertising a product you're interested in. Thank you.
As you can see, there are now 3 columns. This is so that my faithful readers don't have to scroll down so far for all the goodies in the side panel. Not that there are that many, but...
Also, I've reintroduced the Twitter updates. Some of you, I know, are not on Twitter but would like to see them. Well, ok, just Willow, but she may be the voice of many. I shouldn't have the weird problem with the password thing popping up anymore.
There is also a link to my Flickr stream at the top, and occasionally I'll add a link to a set if I think it's worth your time.
I'd like to know what you think of the new layout, if you can spare a moment to leave a comment.
Here is my little video report of today's historic election. I'm a terrible videographer, by the way, but I have no aspirations at success in tv or the movies, so who cares? [If you have trouble seeing these, the links are at the bottom of the post]
And here is Part 2, in which I say "you know," and how exciting this is a bunch of times, and then when I get very inspired about the voter turnout, one of my cats walks into frame in the background and just ruins the mood. HAHAHA!
In case you need them, here are the links to the videos above: Part 1 and Part 2.
I was alerted by a reader that whenever she tries to leave a comment, she gets the Twitter sign-in pop up at each stage of the proceedings, which is very annoying. Is anyone else getting this? If so, please brave the popup and let me know!
Edited to add: I removed the Twitter updates, so if you've been getting this problem it might be gone now, but I'd still like to know.
You might have noticed that I have had more posts addressing the upcoming election. My blog is not turning into a political blog, but the world kinda hangs in the balance here, folks. If you're in the U.S. and are not taking an interest, shame on you. If you're abroad, you probably are taking an interest and freaked out at the same time.
It is my intention to keep writing about my own stuff, and to post current affairs stuff to the extent possible, at least until the election. Just so you know.
Finally my friend Deirdre has moved her blog to a more accessible site. It is called Spiritual Dilettante, and I highly recommend it. Deirdre has been on a spiritual exploration for many years -- a couple of decades, perhaps -- and finds clarity and wisdom throughout the spectrum of spiritual disciplines. She also happens to be an excellent writer. I highly recommend that you check it out.
Travelvixen, as her name implies, is on the road to becoming a travel writer. She is taking a travel writing class and posting her assignments on her blog. She is very courageous to do so, this is important to her, and it takes guts to ask for authentic feedback. I love her travel writing, she is fun and informative and I always live the trip right along with her. She gives me the travelbug.
Starting on my 40th birthday, and for 365 days, I will take one photo of myself each day. Sometimes someone else will take it, so it's not strictly 365 self-portraits, but that's the jist of it. In some I will look good, in some I will look awful. Then at the end of the year, I'll take a look at them all and see if I discover anything about myself that I had never seen. It might be a great experiment, it might be a stupid idea, but I won't know for about another year.
